Sentenced, Xabi Alonso drops his favorite: 'The new signing is useless...'
Xabi Alonso rules out one of his latest signings just days before the league debut
Xabi Alonso knows that Madrid is coming off an almost trophyless season and that Madridists have raised their expectations significantly, since they want to see a champion team again. That being said, Xabi Alonso is determined not to let anything slide, so he has dropped one of the signings who was supposed to be revolutionary. With less than a week to go before the league debut, Xabi Alonso is clear: if things stay this way, this new Madrid signing will play little to nothing this season.
The transfer market for Madrid has been very good, but everything seems to indicate that Xabi Alonso's disappointment with a new signing is huge and could have consequences. Xabi Alonso is a straightforward coach and knows that Real Madrid needs to win again, so he will make drastic decisions, no matter who is affected. "He doesn't care if it's Vinícius Júnior or if it's Kylian Mbappé, Xabi Alonso treats all players the same way," sources from the current white locker room say.

Given this reflection, everything seems to indicate that Xabi Alonso won't hesitate. In fact, this was already shown in the friendly that Real Madrid played against Leganés, where details of the Basque coach's influence could already be seen. One of Real Madrid's major signings this summer is making things difficult for himself and, if he doesn't change radically, he will find it very hard to get minutes with Xabi Alonso.
Sentenced, Xabi Alonso drops his favorite: "The new signing isn't good enough..."
Xabi Alonso is already starting to make his first decisions at the helm of Real Madrid. Madrid has had 15 days of preseason, but they've served for Alonso to notice certain situations he doesn't want to tolerate. Defensive commitment is non-negotiable at Xabi Alonso's Madrid and, apparently, one of these new signings isn't meeting that requirement from the Real Madrid coach.
Real Madrid's transfer market has been very good: Florentino Pérez has signed players like Dean Huijsen, Álvaro Carreras, Trent Alexander-Arnold, among other very prominent ones. However, Trent Alexander-Arnold's performance hasn't been the desired one and Xabi Alonso is reportedly considering leaving him out of the starting eleven for the white team.
Xabi Alonso calls him out: "If he doesn't step up, he could be out of Real Madrid..."
Dani Carvajal has already recovered from his injury and, therefore, everything seems to indicate that he will remain the starter ahead of the new signing, who is Trent Alexander-Arnold. Alexander-Arnold arrived from Liverpool to be important, but his performances reportedly aren't convincing Xabi Alonso, who demands a very high level of work and commitment, especially defensively.
We'll see what happens, but Trent Alexander-Arnold will have to start working much harder if he wants to earn a spot in Xabi Alonso's team. For now, the starter would be Dani Carvajal, who is already at 100% and who had a great match in the friendly between Real Madrid and Leganés this same week.
