The new Sergio Ramos wins over Real Madrid: Thibaut Courtois has already requested his signing, he's top

Real Madrid is working on the defenders of the future given the outlook for the coming months

It's been a good year for Real Madrid. Last summer, several signings were made that have ended up solving most of the cracks the team had to deal with last season. However, even though the squad is complete, some short-term future dilemmas are starting to appear on the horizon.

For example, in the defensive line, some moves will have to be made. Antonio Rüdiger and David Alaba aren't part of Xabi Alonso's short-term plans, and a couple of arrivals will be needed to complete the defensive setup. Of course, rumors about possible signings have already started to emerge.

Konaté, Saliba... Why not, one of them could end up joining. However, another name has appeared that not only looks like a high-level addition, but also presents himself as the defender of the future. The new Ramos, some even dare to call him.

Beyond his long hair, he's also compared to the great captain for his courage and versatility on the field. His name is Joan Martínez. He's a defender who's been excelling this year in Madrid's reserve team after overcoming a very serious injury. It was so severe that it prevented him from playing a single official match last season.

Joan Martínez progresses properly at Real Madrid

Joan Martínez is one of Arbeloa's favorites in Castilla, the team he joined this year after his time in the Juvenil, where he also played under him. He arrived at the white house in the summer of 2023 after a long process in Levante's youth ranks.

In fact, last summer Carlo Ancelotti already noticed his talent. It was to such an extent that he even called him up for the usual U.S. tour with the first team. Joan Martínez got minutes against Milan and against FC Barcelona in the Soccer Champions Tour. But then came the fateful injury.

All in all, this year Joan Martínez is already established in a Castilla that right now is the most in-form team in the entire Primera Federación. There have been five consecutive wins that currently place them in third place in group 1. His goal in the 82nd minute of the last match against Talavera has helped extend this positive run.

Joan Martínez is a tall, very robust type, standing 6 ft. 3 in. (1.92 meters) tall; he stands out, of course, in aerial play. But that's not all; he's a very complete defender. He's always well positioned and has an extraordinary reading of the game. That's why Xabi Alonso has already set his sights on him.

Those who follow Real Madrid closely already see him as the defender of the future at Real Madrid. His jump to the first team, with defense being such a sensitive position, could happen rather soon. It wouldn't be surprising if Xabi Alonso already called Joan Martínez up for a match this season.
