Fran García finds out and tells Ferland Mendy: 'He'll only leave for 1B'
The French full-back already knows that he has even fewer chances to return to the starting line-up
Fran García and Ferland Mendy are going through a very complicated situation at Real Madrid.
The former finished last season on a high after being considered one of the team's best players at the Club World Cup.
His performances earned him credit with the fans and the board, but everything has fallen apart with the start of the new season. Xabi Alonso hardly counts on him and he has disappeared from the line-ups.
Ferland Mendy's case isn't much more positive. The Frenchman has been dealing with physical problems for months that have prevented him from having continuity.
When he has been able to be on the field, his performance hasn't inspired trust. The inconsistency and doubts about his physical condition have made his role completely fade from Xabi Alonso's plans.
A competition that never existed
In theory, Fran García and Ferland Mendy were supposed to compete for a spot at left back for Real Madrid.
Logic dictated that one of them would be the starter for the most important matches of the season. However, Álvaro Carreras's emergence has completely changed the outlook.

The young defender, signed this summer from Benfica, has performed from day one as if he had been at Bernabéu for years.
His defensive reliability, his ability to join the attack, and his tactical intelligence have immediately convinced Xabi Alonso. As of today, the left side of Real Madrid has an undisputed owner.
An impeccable start to the season
Álvaro Carreras's performance has been so high that he has earned praise both inside and outside the locker room.
In four league matches, he has played absolutely everything, showing a consistency that few expected. Madrid's defensive numbers also support his starting role: only two goals conceded at the start of the championship.

Florentino Pérez and the sporting management don't consider any scenario that would involve his departure.
Fran García and Mendy, the big losers
In the locker room, everyone already assumes that Carreras is here to stay. Fran García, aware of the reality, reportedly told Ferland Mendy that the only way for Carreras to change teams would be a stratospheric payment.
Specifically, the former Rayo Vallecano player reportedly made it clear to the Frenchman that "he'll only leave Real Madrid for 1 trillion (€1,000,000,000), his release clause." Something that, as of today, isn't in anyone's plans.
So, while Carreras establishes himself as one of the sensations of the team, Fran and Mendy will have to settle for a very secondary role.
The competition that was desired never existed, and the present and future of Real Madrid's left back already have a name: Álvaro Carreras.
