Deco and Joan Laporta see Hansi Flick's first mistake: he doesn't have the level for Barça

PSG delivers a harsh reality check to Barça in Champions

Barça succumbed to the reigning Champions League titleholder, a PSG that ultimately came back from behind after the initial goal by Valencian Ferran Torres. Hansi Flick's team appeared far inferior to the Parisians, especially in the second half of the match. Barça started strong with an outstanding Lamine Yamal and a Ferran who put the blaugranas ahead after a serious mistake by Vitinha in the build-up.

However, Luis Enrique's players quickly recovered through pressure and ball possession. Before the end of the first half, it was forward Mayulu who leveled the score. The Parisian team played the match without any of their main attacking stars since both Dembélé, recently awarded the Ballon d'Or, and Doué, are sidelined due to injury.

In the second half, PSG dominated Barça, as the Parisians found a way to break through the blaugrana's pressing more easily. Luis Enrique's team created many doubts in the blaugrana defense by taking advantage of Barça's high defensive line. With very dangerous counterattacks, they had several chances before scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute.

A very unrecognizable Barça

The French team ended up completely dominating the blaugranas, who couldn't find any fluidity in the midfield with Pedri or De Jong. The image Flick's team left during the second half was concerning, with the first doubts emerging. Some are beginning to wonder if the team is truly capable of competing in the Champions League.

There are several players who are far from their best form, among them Pau Cubarsí, Dani Olmo, Koundé, or Lewandowski, who is getting fewer minutes. All of them are footballers who played a decisive role in the team's sporting successes last season. Meanwhile, there are footballers who are being heavily criticized for their lackluster performance in the match.

Gerard Martín, one of the most criticized

The former Cornellà player has been one of Hansi Flick's firm bets since he arrived on Barça's bench. Flick called him up for last preseason and he ended up staying as an alternative to Alejandro Balde. Although his beginnings with the team were full of inaccuracies, Flick kept trusting him and the full-back grew until he established himself in the first team.

However, it became clear again against PSG that Gerard struggled greatly to contain the attacks from the French wingers. Deco was one of Gerard Martín's detractors at the time, considering that he didn't have the required level for Barça. He tried to transfer him in the summer after receiving certain offers, but Flick prevented it; the German still trusts the potential of the Catalan full-back.
