Junts Goes All in and Asks Pere Aragonès for Early Elections
Antoni Castellà reveals his plan to defeat the State
The War Between Pro-Independence Parties Intensifies. Far from bringing positions closer, the post-electoral scenario of July 23 has further strained relations between Junts and ERC. Carles Puigdemont's party not only rejects the common pro-independence front in Madrid but now also targets the Govern of the Generalitat.
In Junts per Catalunya, they are aware of the weakness of Pere Aragonès's minority Govern and want to take advantage of it. Antoni Castellà, a Junts deputy in Parlament and a key figure for Puigdemont, has issued a challenge to ERC and is calling for early elections.

This increases the pressure on Pere Aragonès, who governs with 33 out of 135 seats and has suffered two electoral setbacks that demote him to the third force in Catalonia. The President remains confident in completing the legislature. Meanwhile, Junts warns that the legislature is "exhausted" and calls for new elections.
A Plan to Defeat the State
Antoni Castellà is one of the representatives of the hard core of Waterloo. In addition to being a deputy, he is a spokesperson for the Council of the Republic, a parallel body created by Puigdemont to keep the dream of the Catalan republic alive. From this body, the most radicalized independence movement is promoted.
Castellà, who just a few days ago promoted the "Catalan Brexit," now demands early elections from Aragonès. He believes that elections should be called "as soon as possible" to devise a strategic plan of confrontation against the State.
His idea is to call elections, rethink the strategy, and submit it to a plebiscite to the people of Catalonia. "If the people give you confidence and a strong Govern emerges, it reaffirms and legitimizes you to start this new cycle we have before the Spanish State," he states. For him, this is "the best way to recover the strategic unity of the independence movement."
Primaries in Junts
Antoni Castellà has a direct link with Waterloo and leads the sector aligned with Laura Borràs, who promoted the break with ERC and the exit from the Govern. Since then, they have been working to undermine the Aragonès Govern. Their positions have become more radical following Esquerra's agreements with PSC in municipalities and provincial councils.
The strategy of the independence movement in the post-electoral scenario of July 23 opens a new opportunity for this sector. Castellà asks Aragonès "to deeply reflect on whether it is worth enduring this agony." Additionally, he considers him a "tutored president" and "disavowed" by his own party.

In addition to early elections, Antoni Castellà also calls for a primary process in Junts to choose the candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat. One of the names that stands out is that of former minister Josep Rull. A consensus proposal that would unite the moderate wing with the more radical one.
