Maximum concern in Real Madrid's defense: Huijsen and Asensio don't convince
The victory helps restore confidence, although it leaves several questions open regarding the team's balance
Real Madrid had a perfect night at Santiago Bernabéu against AS Monaco. The 6-1 score was a display of attacking soccer and efficiency that allowed the team to add three key points and strengthen Álvaro Arbeloa's work from the bench.
The victory also served to seal a kind of emotional truce with the fans after what happened last weekend against Levante UD. Bernabéu pushed again, the team replied, and for many minutes it seemed that everything was fitting together again.
The substitution of Asencio sets off alarms
However, not everything was smiles. A decision made at halftime changed the focus of the match. Raúl Asencio did not return to the field after the break and was replaced by Dani Ceballos, a sign that raised concern in the white environment.

The concern is understandable. Asencio was showing notable growth and had become a reliable solution in a defense punished by injuries. Now, the club is waiting for medical tests to assess his availability, especially with the visit to Villarreal CF on the immediate horizon.
Huijsen, between self-criticism and hope
Another focus of attention is Dean Huijsen. The center-back was honest after the match and acknowledged that the last few months have been especially tough for him. Injuries and muscle issues have prevented him from having continuity and showing himself at the desired level.
Even so, the defender wanted to keep the positive side. He explained that he felt good against Monaco and he thanked the coaching staff for their support. He looked freer, with enough confidence to carry the ball and take part in the buildup, although doubts about his consistency persist.
Talent, ambition and a defense under scrutiny
Huijsen also made it clear that his ambition goes far beyond the present, he dreams of winning the UEFA Champions League, La Liga and the World Cup. He doesn't lack hunger. He doesn't lack youth either, but Real Madrid usually doesn't grant too much time when the pressure mounts.
The reality is that, despite the rout, the defense is still a sensitive issue. With Asencio waiting for tests and Huijsen looking for consistency, the club is watching closely. The talent is there, but so are the doubts and in Real Madrid, winning is not always enough to silence the alarms.
