Goodbye Real Madrid, Aurélien Tchouaméni celebrates it: Liverpool wins, signing sealed

The Anfield team seems to have the most options to finalize his signing

Aurélien Tchouaméni is experiencing his best period as a footballer. The French midfielder has established himself as Real Madrid's starting pivot thanks to his physicality, his ability to win the ball, and his balance in midfield. Xabi Alonso has given him authority and, as of today, he is undisputed in the starting eleven.

However, despite his importance, the club is clear that something is missing. Tchouaméni provides strength and solidity, but he doesn't possess the organizational qualities of Toni Kroos.

For this reason, after the German's departure, Real Madrid knows they need to find an heir capable of controlling the tempo of matches.

The search for the new Kroos

For months, the sporting management has been scouring the market in search of a creative midfielder. Fans long for names like Vitinha, Rodri, or Nicolò Barella, but Xabi Alonso has his own plan.

The Basque coach has insisted that the ideal player to strengthen the midfield is Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace.

The Englishman, at 20 years old, is one of the Premier League's top talents. Trained in Blackburn's academy, he joined Crystal Palace in 2024 for €21 million and has quickly become an indispensable piece.

With nearly 50 official matches and his debut with the England national team, Wharton has shown personality, vision, and the ability to link up with teammates.

Adam Wharton, Xabi Alonso's favorite

What stands out most about Wharton is his ability to move the team with intelligence. He is not just a positional midfielder, but a player who combines defensive work with quality in distribution.

His reading of the game is reminiscent, in part, of Kroos in his early years at Bernabéu, although with a more powerful physique.

The problem is the price. Crystal Palace doesn't intend to make his departure easy and is demanding at least €70 million to let him go.

This is an amount that, while manageable for Real Madrid, complicates negotiations due to the high level of competition in the Premier League.

Liverpool take the lead

Not only Real Madrid is closely following Wharton. Manchester City, Chelsea, and Newcastle have also shown interest, but Liverpool appears to be the team with the best chance of signing him. Arne Slot values his profile highly and the Reds' project is determined to make a strong push for him.

If his arrival at Anfield is confirmed, Aurélien Tchouaméni will be able to breathe easy: his position at Real Madrid won't face added competition.

Even so, the club won't stop and will keep exploring options to bring in a new organizer. The search for Toni Kroos's successor remains open.
