Dean Huijsen has already received the CTA's statement: 'Anoeta's VAR...'

CTA has spoken out about Dean Huijsen's situation, who was sent off against Real Sociedad at Anoeta

Dean Huijsen, Spanish center-back for Real Madrid, is already one of the big names for the white team in this excellent start to the league. Dean Huijsen has been key in Xabi Alonso's plans, but, for now, he has been greatly hindered by red cards: he has already seen 2 in 9 matches played. The latest one came against Real Sociedad at Anoeta and was given for an action that has sparked a lot of controversy, especially within nuevo CTA.

Madrid won at Anoeta against Real Sociedad, but they did so while suffering due to the sending off of Dean Huijsen, who will not be present for the match against Getafe. Xabi Alonso's team earned the 3 points thanks to goals from Arda Güler and Kylian Mbappé, who has now scored 50 goals wearing Madrid's jersey. The controversial play came in the 32nd minute, when Dean Huijsen grabbed Mikel Oyarzabal in what was a promising goal-scoring opportunity, as the defender was accompanied by Militao.

Although the action should have been punished with a yellow card, the referee, Gil Manzano, sent off Dean Huijsen, who has received an apology from CTA. CTA has spoken out about this action and has sided with Xabi Alonso, who protested clearly and openly. In fact, the Basque coach for Madrid was shown a yellow card for protesting Dean Huijsen's sending off from the sideline at Anoeta stadium, where Real Sociedad play.

Dean Huijsen has already received CTA's statement: "Anoeta's VAR..."

The new CTA, which aims to be more transparent than ever, believes that the action by Dean Huijsen should have been punished with a yellow card, but has confirmed the VAR's inaction. In CTA's view, Gil Manzano's decision is a personal interpretation of a "gray" play, so VAR was right not to step in and correct that opinion. Gil Manzano considered that Dean Huijsen had stopped a clear goal-scoring opportunity as the last man, but Eder Militao was almost at the same level as the Spanish center-back.

"This Committee understands that not 100% of the criteria for DOGSO are met and that the most appropriate sanction would have been a yellow card," confirmed the referees' spokesperson, Marta Frías. With this statement, CTA sides with Dean Huijsen, although it is most likely that the red card will remain in effect and, therefore, he will serve his respective suspension.

CTA keeps VAR's action. The video refereeing room did not notify Gil Manzano, because it was a gray action, subject to the on-field referee's judgment. "VAR only intervenes in clear, obvious, and manifest errors, and this play falls within what we call gray incidents, those that allow for more than one interpretation."
