The War Between Erc and Junts Escalates
The pro-independence parties end the truce in the final stretch of the campaign
The pro-independence forces seemed to have buried the hatchet just days before the end of the campaign. But next weekend they have rekindled the accumulated resentments among themselves. Especially from ERC, with a clear protagonist: its president, Oriol Junqueras.
Tired of always being the focus of criticism, Junqueras has gone on the offensive criticizing "the selfishness" of Junts. "Some live happily with bitterness and complaining," he reproached the post-convergents.

ERC's president, Oriol Junqueras, led a rally next weekend in l'Ametlla de Mar, Baix Ebre. From there he lamented that "some want everything to go wrong so that things go better for them." On the contrary, he defended ERC's work in Congress this last legislature.
Junts have long been denouncing that ERC has sold out to PSOE in Madrid. Junqueras accused them of "caring very little about what happens to workers, merchants, retirees and students." He claimed that thanks to them the minimum wage and pensions have increased.
Fight Against Abstentionism
Another battle for ERC is the fight against abstentionism, which threatens the pro-independence parties. In this regard, he pointed to "those who have a lot of money and control the media." According to him, "they are interested in society giving up on democracy," and he called for a massive turnout on July 23.
The reality is that polls continue to predict a debacle in votes and seats for the formation of Oriol Junqueras and Gabriel Rufián. The Republicans have few days to recover, and they have their strategy clear. They have refocused on their rivals from Junts.
Puigdemont Attacks ERC
Meanwhile, Junts are concentrating their forces in these last days of the campaign on leveraging the Puigdemont effect, combating abstention, and attacking ERC. Puigdemont himself participated in Junts's central rally in Amer. From there he accused Esquerra of "seeking applause outside and wanting to be liked in Madrid."

The former president said that ERC votes for laws "with the progressive flag" but that "in reality they take away our powers." Another from Junts's radical sector, Antoni Castellà, accused the dialogue table of "causing repression, loss of powers and whitewashing the Spaniards." "Gabriel Rufián, they've made a fool of you, you've lost everything," he said.
