Belén Esteban, Protagonist of the Catalan Debate on 23j

The left now uses the 'princess of the people'

Belén Esteban has entered the campaign to everyone's surprise. The "princess of the people" left everyone puzzled by stating that on July 23 she will not vote "for the usual ones." Without naming names, she hinted that this time she will not vote for PP because they are in coalition with Vox and she doesn't want to "go backwards."

The panelist, who has never hidden her sympathies for the right, has criticized the alliance of PP with Vox. "There are parties that I don't agree with at all, instead of moving forward we're going backwards," she stated. She expressed her concern about "putting a party halfway with another and instead of moving forward going backwards."

Although she didn't directly mention Vox, she did say she has "very close people who have fought hard to have some rights." She acknowledged her fear that they might lose those rights. "With this you already know which party I'm talking about," she added.

Belén Esteban Enters Campaign

The panelist has fully entered the campaign unintentionally, and her words are already being used by the left to mobilize the useful vote. They present Esteban as the example of the useful vote to stop "fascism" and the "far right."

The latest to use it have been the Comuns, during the Catalan electoral debate held this morning on RAC1.

Aina Vidal, from En Comú Podem and number one of Sumar for Barcelona, has mentioned Belén Esteban to criticize PP. She addressed the popular candidate Nacho Martín Blanco to criticize their pacts with Vox.

"Voting for Partido Popular right now is voting for the PP-Vox ticket," Vida said. "We have already seen it in Extremadura, you are willing to drag your candidate to end up governing with Vox."

For the leader of the purples, "it's not just that they make pacts with Vox, it's that they have also embraced all their ideology. The proof is that today not even Belén Esteban will vote for them."

Which Party Will Belén Esteban Vote For?

The truth is that Belén Esteban didn't mention any formation nor did she reveal which party she will vote for. The communication advisors of the parties are already vying for the panelist's vote. A 2012 survey established that if she made her own party it would be the third political force.
