Gerard Piqué has surprised once again with a move that has sparked a wave of comments. His new desire has been revealed in recent days, and, as expected, all eyes have turned to Clara Chía. Although many thought it was something new in his personal life, the reality has been different, though just as striking. 

Piqué's new desire has involved embarking on an interesting business project. The company linked to him, Kerad EB, has shown interest in an iconic historic building located in Bilbao. It is the former Correos building, which is now up for public auction with a starting price of €13.5 million.

This building, located on Alameda de Urquijo, was built in 1927 by architect Secundino Zuazo and holds great heritage value. Piqué and his team's intention is to turn it into a luxury hotel, respecting the historical and architectural values of the property. To this end, they even hired an architect who studied the project's feasibility.

The challenge of acquiring a public building: Piqué's bet on the auction

The operation is not simple, since the sale must be transparent as it is a public property. That's why the public auction has been chosen, although if no buyer appears, Correos could negotiate directly with interested parties. This would leave the door open for Piqué to remain one of the strongest candidates to acquire the property.

The building has an area of 62,431 sq. ft. (5,800 m²) distributed over several floors, and it has urban protection that requires key elements such as the façade and the roof to be preserved. Although it can't be used for housing, it can have commercial or service uses, which facilitates its transformation into a hotel.

In addition, it is important to note that Correos will be able to continue using the property at no cost until the end of 2026, which allows time to plan and calmly execute any future project. However, this circumstance also means a significant delay for those who wish to start renovations immediately. For this reason, interested parties will need to carefully evaluate the timing before making a final decision.

Thus, while Piqué puts all his energy into this business desire, the press and the public keep a close eye on Clara Chía, who remains by his side during this stage.
