There's a surprise, he's no longer untouchable, Xabi Alonso says enough, he will leave Real Madrid

Only the official confirmation is missing; everything points in the same direction

Xabi Alonso has arrived at Real Madrid with the mission of restoring excitement to Madridism and fighting for every title. Since his arrival, the Basque has imposed a new mentality based on demand, order, and intensity. Training sessions are now longer, more tactical, and with a much higher level of concentration than during Ancelotti's era.

But beyond the methods, the main difference is noticeable on the field. Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid is a more compact team, with the lines very close together and defensive coordination that has minimized spaces for opponents. All players participate in both defense and attack, and that collective solidarity has strengthened the unit.

The new signings have adapted perfectly to that philosophy. Álvaro Carreras has burst onto the scene at left back, bringing freshness and tactical discipline. Meanwhile, Dean Huijsen has established himself as a starter at the heart of the defense, showing that meritocracy is the rule at Valdebebas.

Xabi Alonso makes decisions: from untouchable to certain sale

However, not everyone has benefited from the presence of the Donostia-born coach. Some who were undisputed not long ago have lost prominence. Players like Asensio or Endrick have seen their playing time reduced, but the most striking case is, without a doubt, that of Ferland Mendy.

For years, Ferland Mendy was a key piece for Real Madrid. With Zidane first and then Ancelotti, the French left back became untouchable due to his physical power, defensive rigor, and ability to neutralize opponents. His performances in big matches were decisive in keeping the defense solid during moments of maximum demand.

However, his situation has changed drastically. Injuries have relentlessly plagued him over the past two seasons, preventing him from achieving the consistency that an elite footballer needs. This season, in fact, he still hasn't been able to make his debut: Ferland Mendy has been out for 164 days since he was injured and still has no return date.

Ferland Mendy has to leave Real Madrid

The context doesn't help Ferland Mendy either. Álvaro Carreras has taken over the left back position with high-level performances and a maturity beyond his years. Next to him, Fran García remains a reliable and promising option, which leaves Mendy without a place at Real Madrid.

The player himself is aware of his complicated situation. In the Bernabéu offices, it is considered that Ferland Mendy's cycle has ended: the best thing for both parties is to look for an exit. In fact, his agent has already received the first inquiries from several Premier League and Serie A clubs.

The most likely scenario points to a departure in the winter transfer window or, at the latest, in the summer. Ferland Mendy will leave Real Madrid sooner rather than later, putting an end to a stage marked by contrasts. Xabi Alonso has been clear and the club supports him: in the new white project, there are no longer any untouchables.
