Unexpected twist in Marc Casadó's future: from being close to signing a new deal to getting ready to pack his bags

A strong offer from abroad alters the initial plans and leaves his continuity hanging by a thread

Marc Casadó's situation at Barça has changed faster than many imagined. Not so long ago, his name appeared linked to a possible contract renewal as a bet for the future. Today, however, the scenario is very different, and in the Barça environment the feeling is growing that his continuity is seriously compromised.

This is not an impulsive decision. It is the consequence of several factors that have accumulated over the season. The sporting context and, above all, the financial context are pushing toward an exit that just a few months ago seemed unlikely.

Without consolidating in the project

Casadó has had opportunities, but he has not managed to establish himself as an important piece in Hansi Flick's plans. The coach values his tactical discipline, his ability to read the game, and his daily commitment. However, in a team that aims to compete for everything, that is not always enough.

In the midfield rotation he is behind other teammates, and that hierarchy has not changed as the months have gone by. The leap he needed to take to become an undisputed starter has not fully arrived. At FC Barcelona, where the demands are constant, the margin for patience is minimal.

The offer that changes everything

The real turning point has been a proposal from Saudi Arabia. On the table there are 40 million euros, an amount that the club considers very significant for a footballer with a secondary role. From a financial point of view, the operation fits perfectly into Barça's roadmap.

The sale would make it possible to bring in a considerable amount and, in addition, to free up the wage bill. In Barça's current financial context, every move counts. In the European market it would be difficult to find a club willing to reach those figures for a player who is not a regular starter. The Saudi proposal, therefore, marks a clear difference.

Sporting and personal decision

In the offices they assume that, barring a radical turn in the coming weeks, the exit door will open. This is not a personal issue or a matter of absolute lack of trust. It is a strategic decision within a process of adjustment and reconstruction.

For Casadó, the dilemma is not simple. The financial offer is very attractive, but it also means moving away from the European elite at an early stage of his career. Remaining at Camp Nou would mean continuing to fight for a place, with the uncertainty of not having guaranteed prominence.

The summer will be decisive. What seemed like a contract renewal on track has turned into a possible farewell. As of today, the feeling in the Barça environment is clear: Marc Casadó is closer to packing his bags than to extending his contract.
