Joan García already knows where Andreas Christensen will play in 2026: 'I'm going to...'

Barça's board will make a surprising decision regarding Andreas Christensen

The goalkeeper from Sallent has made a great impression in Barça's locker room; only a few matchdays into the competition, but his signing has been a complete success. The Catalan goalkeeper has needed little time to show his great quality between the posts, saving the team from more than one goal. The clearest example was in the match at Vallecas, where Joan García became the main protagonist by preventing the culé team from losing.

The one from Sallent has also made it clear that his footwork is nothing to envy compared to Ter Stegen's; Barça has a goalkeeper for many years to come. Joan García keeps a great relationship with most of the squad members, especially highlighting his friendship with Dani Olmo. Already aware of some of his teammates' intentions, he has learned about Danish Andreas Christensen's future plans.

The Denmark international's contract ends in June 2026, and he is hardly being used by Hansi Flick. This fact would suggest that his departure from the club is near, but to the surprise of many, Christensen has informed Laporta, Deco, and Flick that he wants to stay at Barça. He is delighted with his life in Barcelona and believes he can earn a place in Flick's team.

Christensen has his future clear

Andreas Christensen, 29 years old, is heading into his fourth season at Barça, and although by contract this is his last season, the center-back wants to remain linked to the blaugrana team. Although last season he missed out due to injuries, the Dane is once again in full physical condition. Iñigo Martínez's departure to Saudi soccer this summer has opened up the possibility for Christensen to stay with the culé squad.

The Dane had several offers this summer transfer window but rejected them and never considered leaving the club. He wasn't tempted by the lucrative offers from the Middle East or others from the Premier League or Bundesliga. Christensen still keeps a good international reputation after his successful spell at Chelsea before arriving at Camp Nou.

The possible renewal with Barça

Christensen and his family feel very comfortable in Barcelona and wish to continue living in the city. For now, there haven't been any contacts with the club to address his contract renewal, but an approach in the coming weeks isn't ruled out. The defender is focused on his work to earn Flick's trust and show him that he can be useful for the team.

Christensen didn't play a single minute against Valencia, but he had just played two consecutive matches with his national team with good performances. Hansi Flick could give him his chance this Thursday in the Champions League match against Newcastle. The Dane knows the schedule will give him new opportunities, and he is willing not to waste them.
