Dani Carvajal, disappointed with Arbeloa and part of the locker room: they do not want him at Real Madrid

The full-back is going through the most delicate stage of his time at the club while Real Madrid drives a generational change

Real Madrid's current situation has several open fronts, but few are as sensitive as Dani Carvajal's. As captain, reference, and symbol of a golden generation, his role has gone from undisputed to practically testimonial in a matter of months. At 34 years old, and after a long list of injuries, one of them especially serious, his prominence has been drastically reduced.

The physical context doesn't help. Carvajal is no longer at his best and the accumulated wear is evident. However, what is most surprising is not the management of minutes, but the feeling of ostracism. Not even in moments of need has he counted for the coach, a decision that has caused noise both outside and inside the locker room.

Arbeloa's firm bet

The person in charge of making that decision is Álvaro Arbeloa, now in charge of the team. The coach has chosen to speed up the generational change, betting on youth and energy. Rather than turning to the captain, he has opted for emerging talents like David Jiménez, making the direction of the project clear.

The stance is not unanimous; some players believe that Carvajal can still provide experience and leadership in key matches. Names like Thibaut Courtois have privately defended the importance of keeping leaders in the group. Others, meanwhile, support the idea that the team needs to look forward without sentimentality.

A divided locker room

According to El Nacional, up to six footballers support the coach's decision. They understand that the full-back's physical condition no longer keeps up and that competing at the highest level requires continuity and freshness. For them, the change is not a lack of respect, but a natural evolution in a club that always prioritizes immediate performance.

The identity of the detractors has not come to light, but the division is evident. Seeing a club legend in such a secondary role has caused debate. Some fans believe that he can still help at specific moments; others think that his cycle is over. Arbeloa, meanwhile, will have to manage a silent fire that threatens to strain the atmosphere.

An end that is getting closer

Everything suggests that Carvajal's time at Real Madrid is nearing its end. Next June 30 could mark his definitive farewell, twelve years after his return following his spell at Bayer Leverkusen. The management, led by Florentino Pérez, doesn't plan to offer him a renewal.

The full-back will have to decide whether he starts a new adventure or whether he puts an end to his career. Whatever his choice, his legacy at the club is indisputable. But soccer, as so often, doesn't take past careers into account when the present demands difficult decisions.
