Blow! Aitana Bonmatí is left alone, Barça makes the news official, out until 2026

Women's Barça suffers another blow in the middle of the season with absences that worry the locker room

Barcelona Femení can't catch a break. The good feelings at the start of the season have been overshadowed by a series of injuries that are taking a toll on Pere Romeu's team. First it was Ewa Pajor, and now an even bigger blow has arrived: Patri Guijarro will also have to stop.

The club has made it official and the concern is evident. The blaugrana medical room is starting to fill up just as the most demanding months arrive, with the league and the Champions League in full swing.

Ewa Pajor, first to fall

Just a few days ago, Barça announced Ewa Pajor's injury, their star signing for this season. The Polish forward is suffering from an injury to the posterolateral complex of her right knee, although there is no additional damage.

The estimated recovery time is between four and six weeks, which means she will miss several key matches. Her absence will be felt, especially because of her goal-scoring ability and her immediate impact since she joined the team.

Pere Romeu was counting on her to strengthen the attack, but he will have to look for alternatives. When it seemed like there couldn't be more setbacks... the blow arrived.

Patri Guijarro, out until 2026

Barça has confirmed that Patri Guijarro is suffering from a stress fracture in the scaphoid bone of her right foot. The midfielder will be off the field for at least three months, which rules her out for the remainder of 2025.

A devastating blow. Patri is not just another piece in the starting eleven; she is the team's balance, the player who gives meaning to the midfield alongside Aitana Bonmatí and Alexia Putellas. Without her, the culé machine loses rhythm, composure, and vision.

Pere Romeu will have to reorganize his system. He will probably choose to move pieces in the midfield or bring in young players like Clara Serrajordi to fill the huge gap left by Patri.

Aitana, more alone than ever

With Pajor and Patri out, Aitana Bonmatí is left practically alone as the engine of the team. The current Ballon d'Or winner will have to multiply her efforts to keep Barça afloat during a key stage of the season.

Her leadership will be more necessary than ever, both on and off the field. It is also true that the amount of minutes she is playing is starting to be a concern. Romeu will have to manage her workload if he doesn't want to risk another injury.

Challenge for Pere Romeu

The blaugrana coach now faces one of the biggest challenges since he took over the bench. Without two of his undisputed starters and with a tight schedule, Barça will have to rely on squad depth, the youth academy, and character.

The goal remains the same: to fight for everything, but the road has become more complicated. Injuries have hit hard and the team will have to show why it is one of the best in the world. The season is entering its critical point and Barça will go forward with heart, but with fewer key pieces on the board.
