Barça gets the best possible news: Gavi already has a return date

The midfielder's evolution allows Barça to look with optimism to the coming weeks of competition

There is a sense of relief at FC Barcelona. After months of uncertainty, Gavi is making steady progress in his recovery following the arthroscopy he underwent in September. The signs are positive and the midfielder has already returned to working on the field, a clear sign that the end of the tunnel is near.

The Andalusian footballer has replied well to the workload and, after several weeks focused on the gym and physiotherapy, he has begun to rejoin the group progressively. At the club, they are pleased that everything is following the planned schedule, which is key to not compromising his physical future.

A promising start that was halted

The season had started in the best possible way for Gavi. On the opening matchday of La Liga, he played a leading role by providing the assist for Lamine Yamal's decisive goal against Mallorca, confirming his importance in the team from day one. However, after the match against Levante, his knee started causing problems again.

That injury, which he had been carrying since the match with the national team against Georgia, forced the player to stop. The arthroscopy performed in September kept him out for 36 matches. It was a very significant absence that forced Barça to reinvent themselves in midfield for much of the season.

Flick doesn't want to take risks

The key now lies in how the knee responds in the coming training sessions. If there are no setbacks, Gavi could train normally with the group in about ten days. That would open the door to his return to competition in mid-February.

From the coaching staff, led by Hansi Flick, the message is clear:nothing will be rushed. The German coach sees Gavi as a key piece and prefers to wait rather than take unnecessary risks.

A double return that strengthens the team

Gavi's return could coincide with Pedri's, which would provide an injection of quality and energy for the blaugrana midfield. These are two different but complementary profiles that raise the team's competitive level at a decisive stage of the season.

At Barça, they know that it is not only about bringing back a footballer, but about restoring a very clear identity to the team. Gavi is facing the final weeks of his recovery with caution, but also with excitement. His return date is already on the horizon, and at Camp Nou, and beyond, people are already starting to smile.
