The Processism Already Has Its Summer T-jersey

Procesismo has stopped being a political project to become a slogan factory. A few weeks ago it was Xavier Trias's "que os zurzan a todos," and now a new hit is triumphing. It's "Sánchez, mamón, llama a Puigdemont," in connection with the electoral results of July 23.

The slogan spontaneously emerged during a concert at the major festival in Salt, Girona. The audience began chanting the phrase, and the moment was captured in a video that quickly went viral on social media.

An independentist merchandising company has seen the opportunity to cash in on the sensation of the moment. They already did it with Trias's phrase, turning it into a t-jersey that even the pro-independence press promoted. Now they are following the same path and already have their summer t-jersey.

The story doesn't end here because social media have called for the chant to spread through major festivals and concerts this summer. Negotiations between PSOE and Junts are going to be lengthy and will extend at least until the end of August. Enough time for the independents to chant their new slogan.

Procesismo Rises Up

The phrase was born in Girona, a Puigdemont stronghold par excellence, as a slight to Pedro Sánchez and the PSOE environment. It is also a way to show off, to demonstrate the preeminent position that independence still holds. Pro-independence media quickly rushed to applaud and encourage the new slogan.

It's curious to see how in a few days a divided and expectationless procesismo has risen up. And how Puigdemont, cornered and isolated, has been reborn as an idol of radical independence.

The reality is that Pedro Sánchez can't accept Puigdemont's proposals unless he manages to reform the Constitution. For that, he needs majorities in Congress and the Senate that he doesn't have. But deep down, that doesn't matter anymore because procesismo already has a new slogan and its summer t-jersey.
